‘I NEED HARDLY SAY HOW MUCH THE WORLD NEEDS THE DHARMA, NEEDS SUCH AN ORDER, SUCH A MOVEMENT AS OURS. I HAVE DONE WHAT I CAN. I HAVE STARTED THE ORDER, STARTED THE MOVEMENT. IT IS UP TO YOU. THE FUTURE OF THE ORDER, OF THE MOVEMENT IS IN YOUR HANDS.’

SANGHARAKSHITA
Sangharakshita Ordination

In 2022, the number of women training for ordination in the Triratna movement had grown so exponentially that we'd outgrown our current Tiratanaloka building. So we launched a campaign, Tiratanaloka Unlimited, to find a bigger property that could house the growing aspirations of women in the movement.

Three years later, we bought the property of our dreams thanks to the hard work and generosity of people across the movement and beyond.

We are now at a pivotal point in our journey.

The new property was previously a Carmelite monastery, and has had decades of rich spiritual practice on its grounds. But we are working night and day to get our new home transformed into a beautiful, functional Buddhist retreat centre.

We need to:

  • Transform the chapel into a Buddhist shrine room
  • Update the electrics and plumbing to be eco-friendly and support the amount of people who will be coming on retreat
  • Upgrade the kitchen
  • Furnish the rooms with beds, bunk beds, sofas and other things

This is all vital work and we cannot run retreats until it is done. Your support will allow us to do these crucial renovations so that we can run our new retreat centre, for women training for ordination, and for the benefit of all beings.

ARE YOU IN?

You can be part of making the vision a reality.

With your support, we have not only reached, but surpassed our phase-one fundraising target of £1.5M.

This meant that our offer on our dream property was accepted.

Now we need your help getting us over the line and ready to move in and run retreats there.
We’re so close to being able to open but we need to complete these vital works before we can open our doors.

Can you contribute by giving as much as you can?
