Carers Retreat ; The Mythic Context

The stupa is an architectural symbol encompassing the elements of the natural world, the spiritual path and the unity of Enlightened mind.  Using colours and shapes, we are guided into a freeing of energy into boundless space.  The stupa is also a symbol of the ordination process at Tiratanaloka. Sangharaskhita described our own stupa as a ‘Miracle Stupa’ saying that the only true miracle is when someone makes the transition from a worldly to a spiritual life.

On this retreat we’ll use The Ten Pillars of Buddhism as a basis for studying the potentially transformative ethical principles that unite the Triratna Buddhist Order, and how we can use confession to deepen our understanding and practice of them.

'Discovering the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel’: Online Weekend Retreat

‘In the Buddhist tradition the wish-fulfilling gem has come to symbolise the bodhicitta, and this tells you something about the nature of Enlightenment.  Once you have Enlightenment, you have everything.  All your wishes, all your desires, all your aspirations, are fully satisfied.  Enlightenment, even in the form of the bodhcitta, is the true cintāmani, the true wish-fulfilling gem.
