‘The Mudra of Fearlessness: Facing the Un-faceable ’ Online Weekend Retreat

‘Those who practise meditation will know that from time to time an experience of deep fear comes up.  At first it may be something coming from one’s childhood, or even earlier, but a stage may come when a more basic, primordial fear arises: not fear of anything in particular, but a fear that goes right down to the depths of one’s being, the roots of existence.  This fear, too, one has to face and overcome.'

This weekend retreat is part of a series of online weekends exploring the symbolism of the mudras, or hand gestures, of the mandala.  The mudra of Amoghasiddhi is one of fearlessness: abhaya.  One hand remains in meditation while the other is held to the heart facing outwards.  What fears are we facing?  How can we engage with our fears from the perspective of the Dharma?  How can we embody for ourselves and others the gift of fearlessness?

We are running this weekend retreat online so that as many people as possible can join us.  It starts at 8pm on Friday night, and ends after the puja at 9pm on Sunday night.

The team will include Vajratara and Prajnagita.
